OverviewThere has been a 500-mile or 1000-kilometre race at Mount Panorama every year since 1963 and since 1973 it has been for cars competing in the Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercar Championship Series. In 1997 that tradition continued with the V8 Supercars contesting the primus 1000 Classic and the two-litre Super Tourers competing in the AMP Bathurst 1000. There were again two separate 1000-kilometre races in 1998 before the V8 Supercar Championship Series became the solo 1000-km race from 1999 onwards and also a round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series. From 2006 onwards the race winners have been awarded the Peter Brock Trophy in honour of the nine-time Bathurst Champion who was killed in an accident in September 2006. OVERVIEW
In the 44 races only 48 men have stood on the top of the podium as overall winners and of those only 15 have managed it more than once.
